Narrabri Mural Workshops
Narrabri Mural Workshops
Narrabri Shire's Mural for Our Youth Project was an exciting opportunity for school-aged children to express their thoughts and experiences around disaster recovery through art. The initiative focused on social recovery, building resilience, and raising awareness about the importance of water, the river ecosystem, and the natural flooding cycle.
What was covered:
A fun and creative workshop where participants helped design murals for Council buildings.
Exploration of colour theory and how it can be used to express emotions.
Learning how to use motifs to develop a strong message in art.
Gaining insight into disaster recovery and resilience.
Being part of a community-driven project that fostered pride and ownership in shared spaces.
Collaborating with local artist Jules Warner to create meaningful works that reflect community experiences and values.
Two Mural Workshops were hosted in Wee Waa, Thursday, 10 October and
Narrabri, Friday, 11 October.
This event was open to all school-aged children, with lunch and snacks provided. All materials supplied, and no prior art experience is needed.
The two murals are to be completed subject to location.
